The opening of Zakat Waqf Online University was held on Thursday, July 20th, 2023 in Zoom Meeting and being participated by 78 participants. Prof. (HC) Dr. Zainulbahar Noor, SE, M.Ec as the Head of Planning, Research, and Development BAZNAS gave the speech to officially open the Zakat Waqf Online University.

The first class was lectured by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muniarti Mukhlisin, M.Acc., CFP. The class was about Theory and Practices of Zakat and Waqf Management in Muslim and non-Muslim Countries All Over the World: in Indonesia and Middle East.

Zakat and waqf are part of Islamic philanthropic instruments that have significant potential for the world welfare. In order to optimize this potential, it is necessary to increase management competency and community literacy towards zakat and waqf in a massive and targeted manner, not only on a national scale but also on a global scale. That’s the reason why WZWF initiated the implementation of the Zakat and Waqf Online University (ZAWOUNI) program. ZAWOUNI aims to become an academic forum that brings together amil from various parts of the world in learning crucial skills to improve the performance of zakat management in each country.

ZAWOUNI aims to strengthen the capacity of zakat managers globally, especially for countries that are just developing zakat and waqf.
